Will be regarded as the most senior in the household working closely with the Principals. They will possess strong back-of-house management skills and display the highest level of discretion, judgment and standards of service to relish the challenge of going above and beyond.
House Managers will have at least 3 years experience working in a similar role.
A House Manager will have trained at either one of the Her Majesty’s Royal Households, attended a Butler School or will have been trained at a 5 Star Hotel before moving up the ranks to Hotel Management level.
Range from £530 – £600 net per week typically for an 8-10 hour day, Monday to Friday.
Range from £650-£780 net per week typically for up to a 10 hour day, Monday to Friday
Duties can include all or most of the following depending on your requirements:
For Principal/The Family:
Liaise with the Family Office/PA/EA
Diary management of the family
Drive the Principal and family members including children
Drive guests if required
Travel management and logistics
Light cooking
Event Planning to 5 Star Standard
Hospitality management to 5 Star standard
Oversee dinner parties and other social events
Plan and pack for Picnics
For the Home:
Manage all domestic staff
Manage exterior staff if an Estate Manager isn’t employed
Manage staff rotas and payroll
Identify staff requirements and recruit/train as necessary
Conduct formal 5 Star butler table service training
Work with Chef/s to assist in menu planning, budgets and sourcing food
Dining room management to include bar and wine inventory
Care of the silver, china and crystal
Provide a good knowledge of fine wines
Execute silver service
Set and serve at formal table
Undertake all the household administration
Management of estate to include security, HR, payroll and training
Order and pay for household provisions
Payment of salaries and household bills
Write, plan and implement “standards of performance” manuals for the property
Knowledge of how to care for fine antiques and fine art
Oversee household budgets, reports, etc
Resolve household maintenance issues
Housekeeping management of contractors, grounds and household staff
Care of animals including walking and administering medication
Wine cellar management
Oversee security of property including CCTV
Ensure Fire Safety and Risk Assessments are up-to-date
Deal with tradesmen
