A houseman will generally ensure the smooth running of the home, keeping the home clean and tidy, whilst performing simple external duties such as sweeping the leaves and gutters. They will be responsible for arranging domestic repairs and maintenance as well as undertaking basic administration for the home such as accounts and replenishing inventories.
Houseman/Gurka’s will have at least 5 years experience working in a similar role.
A Houseman will be very experienced at ensuring the general upkeep of a home, either working alone or alongside other members of staff. Gurkhas are soldiers native to the Nepalis of Indian nationality who may have been recruited for the British Army, Nepalese Army or UN peacekeeping force and war zones around the world.
£650+ net per week for a 10-12 hour day.
£725+ net per week for a 10 hour day.
Duties can include all or most of the following depending on your requirements:
For the Principal/Family:
Security and confidentiality of the Principal and property
Overseeing family travel and packing
Running errands, personal shopping
Driving Principal and family
Some simple food preparatio
For the Home:
Receiving guests and visitors
Undertaking basic house administration, including keeping accounts and working to a budget
Keeping a record of household contents, maintaining the inventory and maintenance of items
Ensuring the house is clean, tidy according to Principal’s requirements
General housework, ironing, silver polishing, laundry
Deep cleaning of carpets, upholstery and light fixtures
Waxing of and hard cleaning of all floors
Maintaining gardens, lawn mowing, raking leaves and clearing gutters
Overseeing day to day operations of the residence ensuring everything is running smoothly and functioning efficiently
Overseeing the staff within the estate, ensuring all tasks are completed on time
