A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an experienced Live in Housekeeper to join a private household based in the beautiful countryside near Henley on Thames.

Staff Duties

The residence is a large country estate. Must be pet friendly. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the home to an exceptional standard, taking pride in their work and ensuring the property is always presented beautifully. Duties will include daily housekeeping to a high standard, deep cleaning, laundry and ironing, wardrobe care including handling high-value clothing, care of fine China, glassware and antiques, household organisation, occasional light cooking, relaxed weekend entertaining, cleaning parrot cages, and liaising with contractors and other household staff. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, hardworking, discreet, experienced, flexible and confident working independently. Working hours are 7:00am – 7:00pm with a 2-hour lunch break per day with two days off during the week. A driver is preferred.

Accommodation provided is a lovely self contained one bedroom flat within the main residence, featuring a bright double bedroom and ensuite bathroom with both bath and shower facilities. Interviews will commence as soon as possible, with a flexible start date available for the right candidate. A competitive salary is offered depending on experience.

How many years' private household experience do I need to have to apply to Staff of Distinction?

We require a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a private household for both UK and overseas positions.

As you can appreciate, while you will have been trained to work to very high standards, the workings of a prestigious hotel are very different to that of a private household.  When checking references it is essential that we can demonstrate that all candidates introduced have the necessary like-for-like experience 

for a seamless settling into the new household role.

We ask that all new applicants send us a copy of their up to date CV, certificates and references to assess their experience and from that point we will advise them if we can help them find a new job.
